Boston, Mass., February 22, 2007 — London-based Intercontinental Hotels Group PLC [LON:IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)] announces the gala opening of the waterfront luxury hotel Intercontinental Boston on Thursday, March 22, 2007. This grand celebration will run from 7 p.m.–1 a.m., and its 1500-person guest list represents the Boston area’s top athletes, politicians, business leaders, media luminaries, and local celebrities.
In addition to celebrating the hotel itself, Boston will also be marking the highly-anticipated opening of Sushi-Teq, a one-of-a-kind, high-concept dining experience pairing sushi and tapas with vintage tequila, margaritas and martinis. Sushi-Teq joins the RumBa lounge and Miel restaurant to complete the dining experience at Intercontinental Boston.
Michelin-rated celebrity Chef Jacques Chibois presides over Miel, Boston’s only 24/7 brasserie serving authentic Provençal cuisine. RumBa’s décor and drink selection pays tribute to Boston’s key position on historic trans-Atlantic trade routes. The connecting private Moulin Rouge-themed Champagne Bar is accessible only through sliding mahogany doors.
The $310-million, 5-star, 424-room Intercontinental Boston hotel was developed in partnership with Extell Boston Harbor LLC. It was designed to be the brand’s flagship hotel, and includes 131 luxury condominiums, a two-acre waterfront promenade, and a luxury spa.
