closing tag

project background Bleary early morning on the second day of the W3C conference. While attempting to reach across a fellow attendee’s own reaching arm, and I say, “Pardon my arm, I’m just trying to grab a lid.”

His response: “A lid? What’s that? I’m so foggy I don’t even know anymore.”

My response, words just leaping from my brain unmediated: “Oh! A lid is the closing tag for a coffee cup. Obviously.”

spec A typographic cartoon/visual pun—hat tip to Marc Johns and Jessica Hische—wherein the trailing slash is, in fact, a coffee cup lid.

media Adobe Photoshop with Wacom, 2013.

Soon to be available as art prints, cards, and duplicated on coffee-related paraphernalia.
