By this time next week, my very last semester of classes will be over! I’ll have two big fun portfolio pieces, and the only thing standing between me and my master’s degree from Harvard will be the thesis project.

I have three family Christmas gifts left to pick out, and can’t wait to set into motion all my plans and creative ideas that have been on hold due to reactive academic commitments. I can’t wait to start pouring love and energy into our apartment (take a peek at my “inspirational” interiors tumblog). I can’t wait to start painting and writing and generally making art in every imaginable medium again. Instead of gifts this year, my boyfriend and I will be investing in a high-end DLSR HD video camera for ourselves. He has a screenplay-and-a-half ready to shoot; I need one to shoot video for my thesis project; and we have a list of about twenty film shorts we want to write and produce together.

I’ve been living with this thesis concept for well over a year of the proposal submission and approval process, though it feels like much longer, as it’s based on a longtime intellectual obsession of mine. I’m not bored of it yet—in fact, just thinking about it makes me thrill with excitement. It’s huge in scope, as much academic as artistic, and the kind of thing I’ve always wanted to create, but never had the opportunity or cause to dream up and execute until now. I can’t wait to charge into it full-on, and to share the various components here as they’re completed.

I also just got to check a name off my Designers I Want to Own Things By list! It’s Jonathan Adler, Orla Kiely, Alexander McQueen, Kate Spade, John Fleuvog. So I need to stop by the Fleuvog shop on Newbury Street sometime soon.
