When boyfriend and I were in San Francisco last week, it happened to be Fleet Week. We flew into SFO ahead of Jeanne’s wedding, picked up our ferry tickets to Napa at Pier 39, and had a few hours to kill before our boat came in.
We ate Dungeness crabs melts on SF sourdough bread, and watched the Blue Angels flying in formation over the bay.
When we headed outside to soak up some sunshine, there was a rock band playing out front. They were all US Navy officers in full dress blues: drums/guitar/base with a female lead singer in a snappy pencilskirt and cocked cap jamming out.
And they launched into “99 Red Balloons.” And I thought my heart would explode from the war-machine-springs-to-life awesomeness while the precision superweapons swirled overhead.
After Nena, they transitioned immediately into Black Sabbath. It was incredible.
You can’t make this stuff up.

Unrelated, but I just saw your twitter page, then went to the hilarious parents/awesome website, and then saw this picture, otherwise known as the most Madmen photo, ever.
