Today is my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary. Every day of my life, they’ve taught me everything I know about love.
They were high school sweethearts; my dad once broke his leg trying to impress her by jumping over the line of bookbags at the school bus stop. He would hold his umbrella over her when it rained.
Everything I know about baking, I learned from growing up in my mom’s kitchen. She learned everything she knows about kitchens from my dad’s mother.
Every year, my dad gets my mom two anniversary cards—one on June 30, and one on March 12, the day they went on their first date, in 1971.
I knew that I loved Cristo by their example.
